Winter Sale~2014

We have done another wonderful sale! We held our sale at our towns annual High School Craft Sale on November 22, 2014. We had an incredible time and were once again blessed so much! Here is how everything went...
First, we had to make the scones. This time we decided to add some new flavors, including a gluten/dairy free kind. We made cinnamon, lemon, double chocolate, pumpkin spice, maple pecan, chocolate peppermint, and gluten/dairy free chocolate chip. They turned out delicious and we all had to admit that the gluten/dairy free ones were phenomenal and one of our new favorites!! Because last time we didn't sell all of our scones, we decided to only make about 300 scones, but ended up making a little over 400! We got to bake at our church and were there at about 9:00am-5:30pm. We got all of them done, except the gluten/dairy free ones but we thought it would be best to make them in our kitchen to avoid any cross-contamination. I made the gluten/dairy free ones the next day at my house and we also finished packaging them. We filled up the coolers and on Saturday, headed to the High School. We got a really good spot; right in front of the lunch area and pretty much in the middle of everything. We set up two tables, put on table clothes, and placed the scones on the table. The sale started at 9 o'clock and there were people coming right away. Some people recognized us from last time, which was very cool. We all took turns walking around and looking at all he neat crafts that people had made and bought some Christmas presents for friends and family. By the time the sale was done, we had sold only about half the scones, which was slightly disappointing, but we were very very grateful for what we had sold and couldn't be more grateful! But, we had to decide what to do with all the leftover scones! We decided that the next week, we would set a table out at our church and try to sell as many as we could. We actually sold most of the scones in just a couple of hours at church! With the leftovers, we divided them between our families and kept them. We ended up raising about $350 which was fantastic! The next step was to buy the fabric. Because of holiday things, we didn't end up going until January. We decided to make 30 tie blankets because then we would have enough money left over to buy the Prayer Bears. We went to Joann Fabrics and found some adorable fabric. We made 10 boy blankets, 10 girl blankets, and 10 neutral. Unfortunately, they didn't have our hearts that we normally put on them and neither did some other stores we looked at. It took us only about 15 minutes to pick the fabric, but a lot longer to get it all cut! We had very patient people cutting our fabric and we would like to thank them very much! We got to explain to them what we are doing and we also talked to some of the people waiting in line behind us. When it came AMAZING because the amount we saved is enough for us to hold another sale. We give all the glory to God and can't thank him enough for what he has done with our organization. Right after we got home, we started working on the blankets. We got them all finished in about 2 weeks and right now we are just waiting for the Prayer Bears to get here and then we'll deliver the blankets. When we do that, I'll upload pictures and tell about how delivering went. Stay tuned!

Reaching farther than the cities!

These blankets that we made are going farther than we expected! But first, a little bit about our sale. This sale took place at the end of November at our towns annual High School Craft Sale. We added a couple new flavors including peppermint and pumpkin spice. We spent two days baking, one day at our church and the other at our houses. We had thought that we would sell a lot more scones than last time, so we made about 500 scones! The sale came, and we set up eager to start selling them! We were there from 9:00am-3:00pm and we sold a little over half our scones. We still had about 200 left after we were done, but we had made quite a lot of money. A couple days later, our local bank was generous enough to let us come in last minute for a couple hours. We sold another 20 scones or so and made about $40. We obviously still had quit a few scones left, but we actually had a gentlemen ask for another dozen and someone else bought about 2 dozen to serve to some family and friends. The rest of the scones were divided between our families and we actually gave them to people around our town who had to work on Thanksgiving. It was awesome to see their expressions because they were so excited to know that people cared for them and were thankful for their service. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! We had made enough money to make 30 tie blankets, plus extra for cards and prayer bears. We spent a couple months tying them and thinking out where we wanted them to go. We had always done the children's hospitals, but we were thinking this time we could give some to the hospital and some to a nursing home. We were also given some fabric from a very kind gentlemen at our church and we made those into small tie blankets, which we will deliver to an animal shelter. We were almost set on giving them to a nursing home and the hospital when we got another idea! Our church does a mission trip to Ecuador every 2 years, and this happened to be a year they were going. The three of us wanted to go with them, but it didn't work out, so we will be going in 2 years, but we were able to help out with the mission of spreading God's word and love overseas.....we sent our blankets to Ecuador! No words can describe how honored and blessed we are to be sending our blankets to a whole other country. The 14 people from our church going down to Ecuador, including some of our friends, are overjoyed that they get to take them. They are actually on the plane down there as I type this! We will also have pictures on here that they promised us they would take, when they return in 2 weeks. Please pray that they make it their safely and that we can really be showing God's love to people who desperately need it! It is because of all you guys that we can do this! Because of everyone's generous giving we get to show people that God is real and that he loves everyone in this world, whether they are sick or healthy, poor or rich! Whether we know them or not, we can be proclaiming God's love to other nations, just as Jesus calls us to do. Thank you to everyone who made everything possible and thank you so much to our Ecuador team for taking our blankets with them. May you be able to find ways to show God's love to other people because big or small, everything counts and everything will be giving credit to God's everlasting love! God bless.

Winter Sale ~ 2012/2013

Well, another great sale! Actually, this sale is more than we could EVER imagine, and its all because of you. We can not thank any of you enough for what you have done. All of you who donated, has made 'Scones of Love' a real thing. Because of your generous giving, we were able to hold this sale, and we can now continue it. For those of you who aren't quite sure what I'm talking about, here's what happened:

We decided to do our sale at a bank in December. We wanted to make this a big sale, so we decided to ask some friends and family for $5-$10 donations to help cover the cost of ingredients and supplies. What we thought would stay within $5-$10, became more than we could imagine. People started donated 5's, 10's, 20's! At first, it just stayed between some friends and families, but then they started telling their friends, and then they told their friends, and then we were getting money from people we don't even know! Some of our relatives worked at the American Red Cross, and they were huge givers! A lady, who we actually got to go and meet, told her family about us, and they were so proud that they started giving. We raised over $500! $500! We could not believe it. That is enough for us to do over 5 sales! Once again, thank you to EVERYONE who gave to 'Scones of Love.' No matter how big or small, every little bit counted!

Next, We had to bake the scones, which we did at our church. Before we explain how it went, we would first like to thank the Church Woman's Ministry for letting us use the kitchen, it helped very much! We spent almost an entire day there, baking, baking, and, and baking! We were able to borrow some food processes, (Thank you very much to anyone who loand us them), which helped things go by a lot faster! Here are some pictures of our baking time...

We had one of our mom's there the whole time, along with one of our baby brothers. He was very patient, but eventually got hungry because when we turned our backs...

We made a total of 232 scones!
Our beautiful scones

 Our packaging of the scones...

We made a HUGE mess, which meant lots of clean up...

We took a picture before clean up, and then again after we cleaned up...
Before...
... and after

Then it was time to sell the scones. One of our local banks (who we would like to thank very much, your kindness and generosity was greatly appreciated) let us hold our sale there.

Set up was a breeze because they already had tables and chairs set up, thanks!

After two long sale days, and then another short sale at our church, we sold all of our scones, and made over $400! We were so thrilled! The next step was to pick out fabric for the blankets. We decided to donate to two hospitals, and give 20 blankets to each. We made 2 different designs for girls and 2 different designs for boys per hospital. It took us a little over a month to tie them all and even bought mini "Prayer Bears" to go with them.
We left early in the morning and we were gone all day! We made a stop at American Red Cross to thank them and brought them some of our famous scones. Then we headed over to Amplates Childrens Hospital and the Children's Hospital.

Our van full of blankets!

Our first stop was at Amplates...

....And then Children's

You had some extra young help. They were awesome because there were A LOT of blankets to carry in.

Well, that's the end of this sale! We had so much fun and can't thank any of you enough! None of this could have been possible with out all the love and support from so many of you. Our next sale will be in the summer, and we hope to be able to do this for a long time. God bless you all!

Summer sale ~ 2012

This was our very first sale. We did it at a garage sale that our mom was holding, what a perfect place! We were so excited to be able to finally do this! We started with the baking. We decided to do lemon, blueberry, double chocolate, and blueberry chocolate chip
Measuring and pouring

Mix, Mix, Mix!
And bake!
Next, we packaged and labeled the scones. The next day, we all woke up excited! We got together at about 7:00am and set up. We did it on a picnic table at the end of our driveway.
This was our table of scones

This was our sign
Then, we waited. We sold quit a bit of scones, but then after lunch, rain started coming. at first it was light, but then it started down pouring! We quickly, using our STRONG muscles picked up the picnic table and carried it under the porch. We re-set up there.
Our new Spot
We moved quickly, but it still took a long time to re-set up our stand

We still try to make the best of it!

Because of the rain, we didn't sell very much, but we hoped things would go well the next day! And it did! We sold almost all of our scones. We had so much fun together!
Crazy face!

We really just can't stop laughing

Oh, we also sold lemonade...
and we must admit that we sometimes got thirsty!

Drum roll please......We raised......$87! It was our first sale, so we thought that was amazing! We were able to make 9 blankets, buy cards for them, and buy little fabric hearts that we now put on all of our blankets.

First, we filled out cards

 Then we tied the blankets...

And tied little bears on them....

The last thing to do was deliver them...
We were so blessed to be able to do this, so we would like to thank everyone who helped with this. We would like to thank our family for all the love and support! And we would like to thank you for your willingness to give and help other people. God bless and we can't wait to do our next sale!
